Join us for a beautiful 8-mile hike that starts adjacent to the NASA JPL campus and ends at the Brown Mountain Dam wall with a waterfall flowing over it. Park on the small lot overlooking the dry riverbed from where you can see NASA and the mountains behind it. We’ll walk along a paved access road for about the first half mile before entering the canyon where the trail follows along the Arroyo Seco creek.
Comfortable athletic shoes or hiking boots with good grip are recommended as the trail intersects the creek quite a few times and we’ll have to cross it. The water is very shallow and very easy to cross. It is definitely possible to do the entire route without ever getting your feet wet, and this challenge is one of the funnest parts of this trail. The hike is fairly flat and little elevation gain. Bring a lunch for a stop along the way, two liters of water, and sunscreen.
