Ivy Pride Alliance LA Presents...

MTT, Tchaikovsky and Copland: An Evening at the LAPhil

Co-hosted by IvyQ, Stanford Pride, Duke LGBT Network, Brown TBGALA, Cornell GALA, Harvard GSC, Harvard Club of Southern California, PennGALA, Cal Club of Los Angeles, UCLA Lambda, USC Lambda, the U Chicago LGBT Alumni Group, and Princeton BTGALA

WHEN: Thursday, December 12, optional casual dinner at 6:30 pm, concert at 8:00 pm.

WHERE: Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 South Grand Ave., Los Angeles.

Allow plenty of time as there are many road closures in the area due to construction. Parking under the concert hall is $9, beginning at 4:30 pm. Or take the Metro red or purple line to Civic Center/Grand Park Station. We will eat at the Concert Hall Café at 6:30 pm, and decide later if we want a drink in the area after the concert.

COST: Most good seats are in the $77-$122 range. No word yet on potential group discounts.

RSVP: Contact Claude Baudoin, cbaudoin@gmail.com by November 11 (Claude lives in SF but will be in LA that week). The performance is likely to sell out early. If you are concerned about getting a seat, go ahead and buy yours individually now. We’re potentially looking at Terrace East, rows B and C, as the best option.

Michael Tilson Thomas, who is ceding the baton at the San Francisco Symphony this season after many years (as one of the first openly gay conductors in the world) will be conducting Tchaikovsky and Copland at the LA Philharmonic. Danil Trifonov will be the soloist in Tchaikovsy’s Piano Concerto no. 1. If we have enough people interested, we can try to get seats together.
